R2

Roger Roessler

You might remember a terrific Pinot Noir tasting room just off the Sonoma square called Roessler. They had delicious Pinot Noir from all different west coast spots as well as Chardonnay. But, Roger Roessler sold that and now runs a place called R2. Love the second wind idea. Or the play on his initials. But I also love the wines. Not only does he choose grapes from the best regions for each grape varietal (Santa Ynez and Sonoma), but the wines have wonderful flavors quintessential to each grape variety.

Finally, he’s got a great spot in Sonoma, just outside of the square away from the crowds. Such a cute cottage, it invites you to come sit on the front patio. And you should! He’s bringing in live music on Friday nights and possibly delectable dishes to highlight the wines.

More from my appellation adventures in this region.
