Line Shack Winery recently opened a lovely new tasting room in Paso’s downtown square, conveniently located between Basil Thai Restaurant and the Park Cinemas! Not saying you should make an afternoon of it but we did and it was delightful. Here are a few tasting notes as if you needed more of a reason to taste wine…
Line Shack Arroyo Seco Pinot Noir
This pinot surprised my palate with aromas a bright cherry and raspberry that had a hint of green herbs like sage and thyme. What followed was a wide round mouthfeel of slight length and vibrant acidity reminiscent of biting into a red cherry. Its slight mushroom flair must make it great when pairing with many different dishes.
Line Shack Syrah
This wine began with a healthy aroma of plum and slight perfume intermingling with green herbs and a few other fragrances like vanilla. Its deep dark purple color lured me in to tart cherry and cranberry mouthfeel with a big backbone of smoke and earth. Finally, a slight vanilla flavor yet soft supple tannins lengthened the experience. Love this syrah!
Line Shack Petite Sirah
Deep purple with an inky blueberry color made me like this one when I first swirled and sniffed. A cherry cola smell pleased my nose. YUM! That led to a warm supple bright plum blueberry mix on the palate with a luxurious texture and many layers of vanilla, spice, and herbs. After it had a day to breathe, it had unearthed a warm supple texture like leather with a full bodied mouthfeel of blueberry pie.
Line Shack Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
Their cab from El Pomar had tight crisp cherry and berry flavors intermingled in the aroma. A nice smooth texture followed that felt very elegant and voluptuous with lots of layers in the long finish. Some spice mixed well with a little smoke while neither was overwhelming.
