If you think Santa Cruz is chill and Paso is mellow, Boonville is super laid back. It’s almost immediately clear you can pretty much just park anywhere. If you spot an empty car running in front of a liquor store, don’t be concerned; it’s probably not a quick getaway for looters. That’s just how the locals grab a six pack on their way home. The sheriff here is old school. He’ll pull over a driver for swerving but only to offer a ride home. However, you’re in trouble if the CHP pulls you over.

You’re also in trouble if you’re looking for a full bar. Most restaurants just have beer and wine. Actually, you’ll have to leave Boonville if you want a cocktail. The Mexican restaurant in town is highly recommended but doesn’t even serve margaritas.
