Named for the Greek goddess of abundance, Copia Vineyards opened a tasting room in downtown Paso with swanky decor to delight visitors. Their story is a familiar one: for the love of the juice.
Although you may have heard the name in other wine regions, they are no relation to the Copia in Napa.
2020 White
A wonderful fluidity of lemon citrus and apricot rises from the glass as it swirls. Broad on the palate like a luxurious French blend. It would be lovely along side a summer salad.
2019 The Cure
A blend of syrah, grenache, and mourvedre, this wine opened wide on the palate with blueberry and blackberry that led to a pronounced pepper quality. The pepper was so pronounced that a bite of salami unlocked its juicy cherry profile with a bit of vanilla.
2019 The Source
A lovely aroma of blackberry with a whiff of smoke and vanilla led to ripe plum on my palate intermingled with vanilla. I could almost smell the smoky notes of a crisp bacon wafting through the window while I swirled and sniffed this red.
2017 The Story Grenache
Showing off the boldness of Willow Creek, this grenache blend with syrah had a cherry blueberry quality with a warm soothing length full of plum and pepper. It was my favorite for its unrestrained character.
Return in July to try Copia Vineyards’ rose because it is a GSM.
